forwarding the Conscious Consumption movement
Ever struggle with a product or service and think "Who thought this was a good idea?"
Well, I tried to prevent that from happening.
As a human-centered designer, I spent over two decades working my way upstream by understanding and advocating for people's needs to effectively shape better experiences for them.
My work has influenced communications, products, services and environments that touch people's lives at local and national scales. Beyond my corporate and innovation consulting work with notable companies, including eBay and IDEO, I've played a pivotal role helping the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) evolve their culture to become leaders in delivering customer-centric experiences. I've also created, produced and facilitated numerous events, trainings and workshops – from ongoing multi-year event series to week-long corporate off-sites as well as day and lunchtime engagements.
I know too much and can't sit idle. Currently, I'm working to creatively address my community's needs and challenges at the intersection of waste, consumption habits and existing systems. To better understand where the opportunities lie, I partner with grassroots climate conscious businesses and organizations such as Plastic Free Marin and Resilient Neighborhoods. You'll find me at local zero waste events educating on refill and reuse alternatives, working on packaging projects with small businesses, and building local affiliate partner networks.
A perpetual student of humans and nature, I've studied Graphic Design and Industrial Design with an emphasis on sustainability (Lifecycle Analysis, Materials and Manufacturing, Sustainable Business Modeling and Biomimicry), the Circular Economy, Regenerative Economics as well as Permaculture.
